Conservation
We have a number active projects in the park dealing with habitat restoration and storm water management.
- A restored oak savanna is maintained with the help of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
- Groups and volunteers also help to remove buckthorn and garlic mustard in other areas of the park.
- In 2006, we held a Bio-Blitz 365. For an entire year we surveyed all the flora and fauna we could find, to come up with a comprehensive list for the park. Even though the bio-blitz had officially ended, we are still adding species to the list.
- Recently, the City of Rochester implemented a bio-engineered solution to storm water run-off from the development just off the north end of the park. This has helped to stop the large amount of erosion that was occurring.
